10 Tips to Improve Concentration for Students

10 Tips to Improve Concentration for Students

Being able to focus during studying is certainly the key to score good marks in your exams and stand out from others. Concentration level or paying attention to what you are doing is something that comes from your subconscious mind. It cannot simply happen until your subconscious mind wants to do. But, the good thing is that you can practice, work hard and increase your concentration levels. So, if you are looking for tips to improve your concentration levels, here we listed some tips on how to concentrate while studying.  1. Maintain proper time for everything. Eat, sleep and study on time. We need sleep and food to lead a healthy and happy life. The key to concentrate while studying is your health. You should keep your body and mind healthy to maximize your concentration level.

2. Early to Bed and Early to Rise: It is good for both adults and teens or students to sleep early and get up early before 6 am. As the proverb says, “you need to lose something to gain something”. So, just plan and organize your daily routine properly and go to bed at the right time and wake up early.

3. Do Meditation: Try to do meditation for at least 20 minutes daily, concentrating on one specific thing and meditate. After completion of meditation, you should also practice some light exercises such as stretch exercises and stretches. You can also try yoga like pranayama (breathing exercise). This will keep you fit and healthy, both physically and mentally.

4. Study Early in the Morning: If you study early morning for at least two hours, your concentration levels can go high as sky, provided you follow the above tips as well. Your time will become triple, two hours of studying equals to six hours of studying, because your mind is fresh in the morning, both your mind and body act really swift early morning, hence you can concentrate better.

5. Avoid Disturbances: Find a place where there is less distraction and study there. Try to avoid any kind of disturbances and distractions while you are studying. For instance, studying and watching television doesn’t go well together generally. Light music or soft music prove beneficial for some people while studying, however it depends upon the individuals.

6. Swift off Your Mobile: Ensure that you keep your mobile somewhere far or switch off when you are going to study. Unnecessary calls from your friends or from others can distract your mind and spoils your study time. Set a particular time for studies and maintain that every day.

7. Take Breaks in Between: While studying, you should take some breaks in between. This will help you not to feel tire and bore of studying continuously. However, ensure that you don’t take breaks for too long. Again set a proper time and take breaks at the same time daily.

8. Find a Specific Spot for Studies: You can concentrate better, if you have a particular place that you usually study. Try to find one particular place where you find comfortable, less distraction and use it only for studies.

9. Visualize a stress-free Situation :As an exercise before you begin studying; think of those times when concentration is not a problem for you--no matter what the situation is. Now try to feel or imagine yourself in that situation. Recapture that experience immediately before your studies by placing yourself in those moments. Repeat before each study session. 10. Last, but not the least, keep your mind prepared when you are going to study. You should be ready mentally to study and concentrate on your books. And, to keep yourself ready, you need to follow all the above points.

SIMPLE TIPS FOR CLEAR CS EXECUTIVE PROGRAME

Clearing Your CS EXECUTIVE Exams – Tips, Strategies & Guidelines

The CS Executive Course consists of the following subjects and modules:
MODULE - I
1. General and Commercial Laws
2. Company Accounts, Cost and Management Accounting
3. Tax Laws
MODULE - II
4. Company Law
5. Economic, Labour & Industrial Laws
6. Securities Laws and Compliance Management

Pattern of the Question Papers:

Generally, in exams, the pattern of the question papers in all the above mentioned subjects is as follows:

1. 8 questions will be asked out of which any 6 are to be answered. In each paper, the 1st question will be compulsory which will consist of 4-5 parts. (SUFFICIENT CHOICE)

2. There will be 15 to 20 marks of Objective Questions (True/False, Multiple Choice Questions, Fill in the Blanks etc.) in each paper. Method of Study:

Firstly, every student should decide well in advance whether he/she should opt for private coaching or do self study. Generally, for practical subjects, students opt for coaching. However, it is not necessary to take tuitions for passing CS exams. One can easily clear the CS exams with 2-3 months of sheer hard work. Self Study is better if you think you are comfortable with the theme of the subject. On the other hand, coaching should be undertaken for typical subjects that scare the hell out of you.

Next, every student should focus on the study material provided by ICSI. This is very important because the question papers are set from these modules only. Following points may help you in module study:

1. Try to remember the concepts and don’t try to mug up things.

2. Analyse each topic from exam point of view & give special importance to high-scoring topics.

3. Take a sketch pen and underline the expected blanks, MCQs and True / False questions. This will help you to score bonus marks since such questions are generally easy & straight-forward.

4. Don’t over-concentrate on any topic since the syllabus is very lengthy. Remember, your main aim of doing module study is to have a basic understanding of the subject. Therefore, overemphasis to less important topics is not at all recommended (especially during exam days).

5. Don’t forget to make short notes, wherever needed. This will help you during revision time.

6. Make the use of Scanners to prioritise your study. Understand the trend of questions asked in the previous examinations. Easy & high-scoring topics should be covered first before studying the difficult & unimportant topics.

7. Revision is very important. This point is generally under-estimated but let me tell you that this could be the difference between a Pass and a Fail. This is all the more important in a professional exam like CS where every mark is important & there is not even a single day gap
between the papers. So don’t forget to revise whatever you have done.

Analysis of the Subjects:

1. General and Commercial Laws: This is a difficult subject to start off. When you read it for the first time, everything will be new & you might find yourself in alien territory. However, once you get a grip of it, you will find it very high-scoring. The Institute material and scanner is enough for this subject. It requires at least 2 readings to become familiar with the terminology of this subject. In short, this subject is not as tough as it looks. Just stick to it for a week & I’m sure you’ll master it.

2. Company Accounts and Cost and Management Accounting: This is one of the two practical subjects in the CS Executive course. Students from Commerce background might have studied most of the topics in this subject earlier in some or the other way. As the name suggests, the syllabus consists of major portion from Company Accounts, Costing & Management Accounting. From practical point of view, topics such as Holding Company, Amalgamation are very important. For the practical portion, stick to the material you are comfortable with and then solve the scanners to test yourself. Don’t ignore the theory portion. Generally, it carries around 30-40 marks. For the theory portion, refer to the study material only.

3. Tax Laws: This subject is divided into two parts – Income Tax (50 marks) & Wealth Tax, VAT & Service Tax (50 marks). Income tax is a bit lengthy for 50 marks but it is very interesting. Students who have studied it at the B.Com. level in detail may find it high-scoring. On the other hand, Wealth Tax, VAT & Service Tax is not that technical & it hardly requires 3 days of preparation. For better understanding, students may refer to the book authored by Mr. Girish Ahuja. Finally, don’t forget to have a look at the recent amendments applicable for your attempt.

4. Company Law: Company law is the main subject of the CS Executive Course. Students should read this subject to gain knowledge because a Company Secretary is expected to be an expert in this field. Clarity is very important in this subject. Understand the subject instead of mugging up. Try & remember the important sections. This paper is very interesting since it deals with all the aspects of a company right from its formation to its end. Don’t be afraid by the size of the module of this subject. You can easily score 60 if you read the module once & understand the theme of the subject. Undoubtedly, if you mention sections and cases in your answers, it will fetch youmore marks in the exams. However, if you are not sure of the same, then please don’t take a risk. Wrong section numbers create a negative impression on the examiner & this may cost you heavily in terms of marking for your other answers.

5. Economic and Labour Laws: This is the trickiest and the most dangerous subject. It is the result changer in the second group. Everyone should be perfect with the labour laws and you must score at least 30 out of 40 marks. Economic laws are very dry and would require detailed preparation. The trick here is to master the labour laws portion and just go through the economic laws. Many people fail in this group just because they are not able to score 40 in this paper. So don’t take this paper lightly & read it regularly right from the start.

6. Securities Laws and Compliance Management: This subject is a little technical. On the day before the exam, you might feel totally exhausted (this being the last one). You might also find yourself totally confused but don’t worry, that’s just the nature of this subject. I would recommend that you study this subject in the last month because you might not be able to retain it for a long time (unless you have some real-time practical knowledge). Topics such as ‘Stock exchanges’ and ‘Public issue of securities’ carry more weightage so lay special emphasis on these chapters. This is the final paper so just go for it & give it everything you have.

So that’s just about it. I hope I was able to give you an insight on how to prepare for your CS Executive Exams. Finally, I hope that 25th February / 25th August will no longer remain a nightmare rather it would become a day of celebration for all the CS Students. Wishing you loads of success.

ALL THE BEST &
Enjoy Passing

6 PRINCIPLES OF LIFE

* No point using limited life to chase unlimited money.
* No point earning so much money you cannot live to spend it .
* Money is not yours until you spend it.
* When you are young, you use your health to chase your wealth ; when you are old, you use your wealth to buy back your health . Difference is that,it is too late .
* How happy a man is, is not how much he has but how little he needs .
* No point working so hard to provide for the people you have no time to spend with

COLOURS OF THE RAINBOW

Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel.
All claimed that they were the best. The most important, the most useful, the most beautiful and the favorite.
Green said:
"Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and of hope.
I was chosen for grass, trees and leaves. Without me, all animals would die. Look over the countryside and you will see that I am in the majority."
Blue interrupted:
"You only think about the earth, but consider the sky and the sea. It is the water that is the basis of life and drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea. The sky gives space and peace and serenity. Without my peace, you would all be nothing."
Yellow chuckled:
"You are all so serious. I bring laughter, gaiety, and warmth into the world. The sun is yellow, the moon is yellow, and the stars are yellow. Every time you look at a sunflower, the whole world starts to smile. Without me there would be no fun."
Orange started next to blow her trumpet:
"I am the color of health and strength. I may be scarce, but I am precious for I serve the needs of human life. I carry the most important vitamins. Think of carrots, pumpkins, oranges, mangoes, and papayas. I don't hang around all the time, but when I fill the sky at sunrise or sunset My beauty is so striking that no one gives another thought to any of you."
Red could stand it no longer he shouted out:
"I am the ruler of all of you. I am blood - life's blood!I am the color of danger and of bravery. I am willing to fight for a cause. I bring fire into the blood. Without me, the earth would be as empty as the moon. I am the color of passion and of love, the red rose, the poinsettia and the poppy."
Purple rose up to his full height:
He was very tall and spoke with great pomp: "I am the color of royalty and power. Kings, chiefs, and bishops have always chosen me for I am the sign of authority and wisdom. People do not question me! They listen and obey."
Finally Indigo spoke, much more quietly than all the others. But with just as much determination:
"Think of me. I am the color of silence.
You hardly notice me, but without me you all become superficial. I represent thought and reflection, twilight and deep water. You need me for balance and contrast, for prayer and inner peace.".

And so all the colors went on boasting each others. Each convinced of his or her own superiority. Their quarreling became louder and louder. Suddenly there was a startling flash of bright lightening, thunder rolled and boomed. Rain started to pour down relentlessly. The colors crouched down in fear, drawing close to one another for comfort.
In the midst of the clamor, the Rain began to speak:
"You foolish colors, fighting amongst yourselves, each trying to dominate the rest. Don't you know that you were each made for a special purpose, unique and different? Join hands with one another and come to me."
Doing as they were told, the colors united and joined hands.
The Rain continued:
"From now on, when it rains, each of you will stretch across the sky. In a great bow of color as a reminder that you can all live in peace. The Rainbow is a sign of hope for tomorrow."

And so, whenever a good rain-washes the world and a Rainbow appears in the sky, is to let us remember to appreciate one another.
